There are several companies now offering money management online. Some of these are free and others charge a nominal fee. Doing a quick search for money management online will bring up a familiar name or two, like Quicken Online.
Quicken Online
This is a scaled down version of the desk top software that so many are familiar with. It will track your income and expenses to help you get a grip on your finances. This money management online program has not yet instituted tracking investments but if you are an average person looking to get your finances back on track this may not be a feature you need. The best thing about this money management online service is the price, nothing is better than FREE!
Others
There are more than a few money management online companies:
• Mint
• Mvelopes
• Thrive
• Neobudget
All of these have great programs and have gotten good customer reviews. I personally have not used any of these money management online programs and can not vouch for their worth.
Bottom Line
In order to get control of spending it is sometimes necessary to use tools others have developed. You may think that making lists and calculations in a notebook is easier, but the question is has it worked? Notebooks and lists are easy to set aside and forget about, however using a money management online program may hold your feet to the fire a bit better. Seeing your financial picture painted for you in charts and graphs will encourage you to take steps to improve the situation. Of course this is not a magic bullet that will cure all your woes, you must commit to using the program in order for it to help you at all.
If you need more inspiration for getting out of debt or managing your money I highly suggest a book called You're Broke Because You Want to Be: How to Stop Getting By and Start Getting Ahead
